Northern Ontario offers exceptional and unique learning opportunities for medical trainees of all specialties, nestled in an amazing outdoor playground unlike any other.
The Northern Ontario Residents Streamlined Training and Reimbursement Program (NORSTAR) helps remove financial barriers to exploring this incredible region.
Canadian medical residents and fellows are eligible to receive expense reimbursement for travel to and accommodations in Northern Ontario.
Three program streams are supported:

Postgraduate Elective Learners: Undertake an educational elective in Northern Ontario through the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM U).

Faculty-Resident Dyads: Accompany a faculty physician from your home educational institution on a locum or other work assignment in Northern Ontario.

Restricted Registration: Provide clinical services for pay in a Northern Ontario community as part of the Restricted Registration program.
